The mat covers a specific area adn cannot move freely from one side of the desk to another. The main issue I found was having to continuously move it from the floor (and store it somewhere) when I wanted to work while seated (the desk is adjustable for both standing and sitting). Eventually,I ended up returning it as I wasn't happy with it,but it doesn't mean it's not pleasant for others; I think it just requires getting used to.

Relief for my Knees and Back - Reviewed in Canada on August 2, 2020. I sit at my computer for many hours every day, which was causing my already bad back and legs to get worse. The first solution (besides good office ergonomics and more exercise) was getting a stand-up desk. That helped somewhat, but after a few minutes of each 'standing' session (in sock or shoes on a hard floor), my back, legs, knees, and feet were killing me. That's when I decided I needed a good mat and, based on all the reviews, went with Topo Mat. It's been a game changer. I can now stand for much longer periods between sitting intervals without much,if any,back/leg/knee/foot pain. I believe this mat is so effective becuase of its superior construction quality.
